Review

The Walkera QR X350 Pro is a top-of-the-line drone. The Pro version improves on the original version, and it’s no doubt that there are some great new features to check out. Walkera really improved on a lot of major flaws in the first QR x350.

This is by far one of our favorite drones. Comparing the DJI Phantom 2 and the QR x350 Pro is tough as they are both great drones. We think that the Walkera Pro has overall better flight control, but we’ll touch on this more later through the rest of our Walkera QR X350 Pro review.

Things We Like

Design: The overall RTF drone without the gimbal is great. It’s easy to fly, easy to set-up, and easy to calibrate. Walkera did a great job of making the design user friendly and well-made. A step-up from the original version, the QR x350 Pro has stronger wire connections, better construction, and more durable pieces. Walkera did a great job of correcting this from the previous model.

Controller: You have a few different options that allow for further video stream. The F7 model has a FPV screen on the controller. It also says that the range for the FPV is about a kilometer, but we think that it maxes out about 300-400 km. It is a great transmitter overall and much better than the previous model’s controller. The DEVO 10 controller (another option) says that the range is two kilometers. We estimate that this may reach a kilometer.

Pricing: For an intermediate level drone, the Walkera QR x350 Pro is actually well-priced. It’s not ridiculously expensive but it does have the capabilities of high-end drones. One thing to remember: you must buy the camera separately, making this a more expensive choice than it originally seems.

Battery: The battery lasts nearly 25 minutes per charge, equal to other drones around a similar price point. We think this is one of the best features of this product.

GPS System: The GPS is built into the transmitter. It allows the drone to access satellite information and return home if it strays out of range or runs out of power. This feature is important to help protect your investment.

Things We Don’t Like

Not GoPro Compatible: One major flaw of this drone is that the gimbal included and used with the Pro can only hold the Walkera iLook. Not only does this reduce the quality of the video (because we think the iLook isn’t as good) but it also deters people wanting to use a GoPro. The GoPro camera can be used in a lot of different situations and many extreme sports enthusiasts use it all the time and then use it with their drone. This isn’t a possibility with the Pro version.

Gimbal assembly: The Gimbal is extremely difficult to connect. The screws are small and the overall assembly is tedious and annoying. We found ourselves wanting to throw the gimbal against the wall.

Instructions: The instructions are confusing and contain a lot of jargon that most consumers won’t understand. It’s too hard to know exactly what they’re trying to say and even as experts we still had to look up videos online to find out how to calibrate the drone.

Conclusion

This QR x350 Pro review is intended to educate drone enthusiasts and help them to make the correct purchase when buying a drone. This is an excellent starting model for someone looking to break into serious drone filming. It is better made than the previous version and the battery life lasts much longer. Walkera has done a great job of assessing the issues users we discussed in the previous review and coming out with something of quality.

We suggest buying this drone if you want to keep costs down but also want to have quality videos. Check out similar products if you’re still unsure.

WARNING: This DOES NOT support a GoPro and does not include a compatible gimbal.
