DJI S900 Review
- Weight: 3.3kg
- Max Takeoff weight: 8.2kg
- Lifting weight: 4.7kg
- Flight time: 18 minutes
It doesn’t get much better than this. This is the real deal. With the DJI S900 hexacopter a new generation of drone filming was born. This incredibly light-weight and advanced flight machine has left everyone in awe, including us. We’re going to sit here and try to tell explain why it’s the best on the drone market in our DJI S900 review.
The guys at DJI had a goal: reduce size and weight but increase overall lifting capabilities. This paradox led to the magnificent DJI S900. With six motors and fifteen inch blades, this drone can lift up to 4.7kg. Like an ant, the S900 can pick up more than his weight, as it only weighs 3.3kg. The drop in weight is from the lightweight carbon-fiber arms. They’re lighter, more stable, and stronger. They also fold down.
The DJI S900 drone is an advanced piece of equipment made for serious drone users. Keep reading if you’re interested in finding out what it’s like to fly greatness.
If you’ve already mastered the Phantom and you’re ready for something new, the DJI S900 might be the right drone for you.
The original version does not include the Zenmuse Gimbal. Know this before you buy.
Things We Like
Portable: Unlike other drones of similar size, the S900 is easy to carry because of its retractable carbon fiber arms. Never before has a professional level drone been so easy to transport and set up. It’s basically RTF out of the box.
Removable center board: In the center of the drone is a removable center board which gives you access to the center console. The S900 has a multitude of add on features including the main flight controller, iOSD (on screen display), Lightbridge, and more.
Retractable landing equipment: The landing equipment retracts when in the air. This prevents the landing equipment from being in the way of the video.
Zenmuse gimbal compatible: The Zenmuse gimbal allows for unparalleled high quality video. It makes the overall camera system smoother by controlling the angle of the camera at a steady level.
Things We Don’t Like
Flight difficulty: If you’ve never flown a drone, stop and go back to our intermediate section. You’re looking at the wrong choice. Flying the DJI S900 hexacopter is intense. You’re controlling an expensive piece of equipment that requires experience. I highly suggest checking out flight guides or learning from someone that has drone experience. You’re in the correct place if you’ve been an owner of an advanced drone like the Phantom series and are looking for a step up.
Pricing: This is a pretty obvious setback of the DJI S900. It’s expensive. What did you expect though? The drone is pricey because it’s for the best. It’s not a toy and it doesn’t fly like one.
This DJI S900 review is intended to educate you on what we think is the best. Yes, this drone is one of the best. But it’s the best for specific reasons, mainly being because it’s built to record high definition footage. If you’re looking to capture incredible videos and want something even better than you’re already using, this could be the correct choice for you.
Warning: The version sold on Amazon does not include a gimbal on the DJI S900, this MUST be bought separately!
